Scope
This policy applies to the Calcutta Kitchen website and to the Calcutta Kitchen application that connects with Meta platforms. It does not cover how Meta, YouTube, or other third parties use information under their own policies.
Information we process
Information you provide
If you contact us by email, WhatsApp, or another available channel, we process the information you choose to send, such as your name, contact details, message, and any attachments. The website does not currently provide user accounts or a general-purpose contact form.
Website usage information
Our hosting infrastructure may process ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, and error or security logs. Search terms and recipe interface choices are handled in the browser where the relevant feature works locally.
Meta platform information
When you comment on Calcutta Kitchen content on Instagram or Facebook, Meta may provide our application with the comment text; your username or account identifier where Meta makes it available; and identifiers for the relevant post, media, and comment. We receive this information only in connection with the Calcutta Kitchen accounts and permissions enabled for the application. We do not use the integration to collect unrelated profile information.
How we use information
- to provide, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the website;
- to respond to messages, questions, and collaboration enquiries;
- to identify a comment and the Calcutta Kitchen post or media it relates to;
- to operate, monitor, and improve comment-response workflows; and
- to comply with applicable obligations and enforce our rights.
Automated comment replies
Our Meta integration may evaluate the text or context of a comment and publish an automated response from a Calcutta Kitchen account. For example, a reply may acknowledge a comment or provide relevant information. Automation is limited to supporting interactions with our content; comment data is not used to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for the commenter.
Third-party services
We use service providers where needed to operate the website and connected features. These may include our website hosting and security provider, Meta for Instagram and Facebook integrations, and YouTube or social platforms when you follow a link or view embedded content. External retailers may also receive information when you follow a product or affiliate link. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with providers that process it on our behalf to host, secure, or operate the website and Meta integration; with Meta when the application reads or publishes information through Meta's APIs; when you ask us to or direct us to; or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or complete a business reorganisation. We limit sharing to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
Data retention and security
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose described in this policy, including operating the relevant workflow, maintaining security and troubleshooting records, resolving enquiries, meeting legal obligations, and establishing or defending claims. Meta comment data is retained only as needed to process and verify the interaction, unless a longer period is required for security, legal, or dispute reasons. Published comments and replies may remain visible on Meta platforms until removed there.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your rights and data deletion requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction or objection to certain processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
How to request deletion
Email calcuttakitchen22@gmail.com with the subject “Data Deletion Request”. Include enough information for us to identify the relevant interaction, such as the Instagram or Facebook username, the comment or post link, and the platform used. Do not send passwords or access tokens. We may ask for reasonable verification before acting. We will delete or de-identify information under our control unless we must retain it for a legal or security reason.
To remove a comment, reply, or other information held by Meta, you may also need to delete it on Instagram or Facebook or use the privacy controls provided by Meta.
Children's privacy
Our website and Meta integration are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy and contact information
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices, services, or legal requirements. We will publish the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we may provide an additional notice where appropriate.
